6-lane expansion of the federal motorway A 40 Westkreuz Bochum

Six-lane expansion of the federal motorway A 40 between the junction Gelsenkirchen and the junction Bochum-Stahlhausen, and reconstruction of the junction Bochum-Stahlhausen with relocation of Wattenscheider Straße (L 633):

This produced a flat connection between the federal motorway A 40 and the outer ring (Donezk-Ring) in Bochum, in the area of the AS Bochum-Stahlhausen (Westkreuz).

Furthermore, it is also planned to link the federal motorway A 44 (transversal road) with the outer ring (Nordhausen-Ring (L 705)) North East of the junction Universitätsstraße.

The direct connection of the Western bypass Bochum (Donezk-Ring) to the federal motorway A 40, the reconstruction of the junction Bochum-Stahlhausen and the six-lane expansion of the federal motorway in the area of the junction, are part of the “Bochum solution and serve to improve the traffic conditions in the central Ruhr region.
