Project description
The government of Maharashtra planned to build a high speed network in the state of Maharashtra.
In this context, the planning office of Mumbai assigned Vössing to investigate the possibility and performance capability of six high speed routes (each approx. 50 km long), and one high speed connection for passenger and goods transport between the cities of Mumbai and Nagpur (total length approx. 1,000 km) in a study.
The study included the definition of suitable routes and technologies (variants of route and line layout, operating possibilities, integration of existing infrastructures, possibilities for the use of high speed technologies) and the development of a suitable funding model (economic framework, possible PPP funding models, cost estimate, passenger and income prognoses, economic viability studies, operating costs calculations, project development).
