Project description

In a few years, Guangzhou will be amongst the biggest cities in the world.

In order to comply with the growing transport relations to Hong Kong, it was necessary – in addition to the existing railway connection – to build a high speed route for a speed of 350 km/h.

This route is 104 km long and has 52 railway overpasses (59 km in total) and 26 tunnels (33 km in total).

In addition, the central train station of Guangzhou and four further train stations were rebuilt.

The most demanding structures are the Shiziyang tunnel at 10.8 km long, under the estuary of the Pearl River, and the Shawan bridge at approx. 18 km long (max. support width: 168 m).
