Project description

The high speed route Beijing – Shanghai is in East China, starts at the South train station Beijing and ends in Shanghai at the Hongqiao train station. It connects a total of four provinces, and the most economically developed towns with over a million inhabitants - Tianjin, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu and large parts of Shanghai.

The total length of the route is 1,318 km with a maximum line speed of 350 km/h.

The route includes 244 bridges with a total length of 1,060.6 km (80.5%) and 22 tunnels with a total length of 16.1 km (1.2%).

91% of the route consists of "rigid track".

The construction period was four years.

Since completion, up to 77,000,000 passengers per year have been transported on this route.

The travel time from Beijing South to Shanghai Hongqiao, has halved from previously 10 hours to 5 hours.
