Project:
MDS Dahlewitz - Jet engine test bench

Service period:
2012 – 2012

Project client:
MDS Aero Support Corporation

Project volume:
€ 90,000,000

Project description

In the first construction stage, the new construction of a test building to develop and test aeroplane engines, type 9XX, consists of a central assembly hall, a jet engine test bench situated at the side, and technical building equipment.

Particular challenges arose from the regulations for emission protection (particularly sound protection), the elaborate fire safety measures, and the particular stresses due to vibrations transmitted from the jet engine plant.

For the preparation of a general contractor quote by the client, the existing approval planning was checked, and the planning was adapted to the updated requirements.

Variant investigations into structural engineering resulted in more cost effective and professional hall and roof constructions.

On the basis of the construction works and quantities calculated, the cost estimate was updated to a cost calculation in accordance with DIN.
