Project description
The most modern ICE maintenance centre of Deutsche Bahn will be built on the premises of the former goods and marshalling yard in Cologne-Nippes, by mid 2017. The new build of the factory encompasses a 445 metre long hall with 4 platforms and 8 workstations.
The construction site is around 3 km long, max. 200 m wide and encompasses an area of around 23 ha.
The factory is conceived as a “green factory”, fitted with state of the art environmental technology, and is operated CO²-neutrally.
Apart from the 445 m long hall, the business premises includes an administration building with works canteen, ancillary workshops, changing rooms and a building complex with technology and storage rooms.
Furthermore, technical facilities such as external cleaning and internal cleaning facilities, a wheelset diagnosis system and the whole transport infrastructure in the form of platforms, roads, parking spaces, various bridge structures, support and sound proofing walls.
