Project description
ArcelorMittal GmbH planned the construction of a new rolling line at their site in Duisburg–Ruhrort.
The plant serves to manufacture high quality steel wire rods, and was set up in the existing halls of the steelworks.
Extensive conversion measures of the existing construction resulted from planning within the existing building, which had to be considered in the conception of the rolling line, and the integration of the plant into the whole production process of the steelworks.
So, the L-shaped floor plan of the rolling line, which arose from the right angle junction of the plant at the end of the pit furnace hall, due to the dimensions of the hall, formed a structural peculiarity.
The whole subconstruction including ramps, blower cellar, water control and hydraulic chambers were built in a solid construction.
After completion, the rolling mill was amongst the technologically leading wire rod mills, worldwide.
