Project description

The construction project is on the northern access route to the Brenner base tunnel, and is part of the new/expansion route Munich - Verona.

The building measure primarily encompasses a 4,195-m-long two track railway tunnel to the west of the new build, including niches, cross-cuts and special structures and an access ramp and operations building, etc.

The tunnel was built with the new Austrian tunnel building method.

At peak times, five propulsion systems were running at the same time.

The safety tunnels were driven using blasting.

The excavation pit of the exit ramp was built with bored pile walls, and an under water concrete base.
