Service period:
2007 – 2013

Project client:
EDISY S.A.

Project volume:
€ 75,000,000

Project description

The execution of the route Siatista - Kastoria was part of the procedure of the Greek railway to connect the previously undeveloped West of Greece with the conurbations and/or main arterial roads (route Athens - Thessalonika).

The procedure planned the execution of a railway line between the cities of Siatista and Kastoria.

The new route is in the North West of Greece, and is approx. 50 km long in total.

In order to master the particularly difficult and mountainous terrain, the planning of four tunnels with a total length of 3,700 m, two viaducts with a total of length of approx. 500 m and two further railway overpasses with a total length of approx. 200 m became necessary.

Although the planning was already completed in 2013, the project was not executed due to a lack of infrastructure funding.
