Redesign of traffic light systems in the city centre
Service period:

2010
Project client:
City of Penzberg
Project description
In the course of the redesign of the city centre of Penzberg (Upper Bavaria), the existing traffic light system (TLS) Bahnhofstraße/Karlstraße was replaced.
In addition, a total of three signalled crossings were newly built for pedestrians, along Bahnhofstraße.
Due to the low spacing to the main hub Bahnhofstraße/Karlstraße, the signalling technology for two of these crossings were integrated into the controller of the main hub, which is why a TLS with two attached partial hubs emerged.
The third crossing was conceived separately as a pedestrian protection system.
The TLS Bahnhofstraße/Karlstraße is controlled via video detectors, completely traffic-dependently.
The city centre was redesigned to a high architectural standard.
The new traffic light systems also had to comply with this standard.
So e.g. the signal masts were matched to the design of the street lighting, and the signal transmitter was housed in a modern, anthracite coloured casing.
