Project description
On the premises of the former marshalling yard, is a rail depot, which was put into operation in approx. 1908. It was closed on 1 July 1966. The marshalling yard itself, consisting of a drive in and drive out group, was decommissioned in 1995.
The emergence of the combined freight transport (CT) at Duisburg, developed continually with increasing freight numbers. For this reason, the existing terminal was extended using the funding guideline for combined transport of the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development.
The reconstruction measures included an extensive signal renewal and expansion, amongst other things.
In the area of the former and abandoned signal box areas Bt and Rt IV, V, VI and X/XI, 10 new railway sidings were built, with useful lengths of 700m each, with electrical locally set point technology.
