Project:
Replacement of Pegnitz bridges

Service period:
2006 – 2011

Project client:
DB ProjektBau GmbH

Project volume:
€ 98,000,000

Project description

The existing 23 railway overpasses (RO) should be replaced by new structures, with steel superstructures and with consistent ballast bed.

The new superstructures will be designed both as fully welded frameworks and composite frames with composite superstructures.

This means that the support widths will be enlarged in some places.

The structures should be replaced en bloc in four construction phases, whereby the corresponding requirements for the residual usage period, and a possible renovation of building structure should be verified beforehand, if necessary.

The structures are monument protected, and without exception are in the conservation area and flood plain of Pegnitz river.

The planning must therefore consistently be agreed with the relevant authorities.

Due to the local conditions, access to the bridges is sometimes difficult.
