Project:
Survey of the HGV parking situation on the federal motorway 2013

Service period:
2013 – 2013

Project client:
Lower Saxony State Authority for Road building and traffic

Project description

On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Construction and Urban Development (BMVBS), all road building administrative bodies in the states were requested, to survey the HGV parking situation on the federal motorways, in the night-time hours, in their area of responsibility.

Vössing was assigned with carrying out this survey in Lower Saxony.

The main objective of this survey, was to obtain a data pool for a HGV parking requirement prognosis 2030.

The survey took place nationwide, in all federal states at the same time, i.e. In the same survey time period.

Often, on the access roads and exits of the locations, HGVs are simply parked “wild” on the roadside, which leads to significant traffic hazards.

The type and scope was to be documented with infra-red video recordings.

At the same time, the stationary HGV traffic in the night-time hours, was recorded with survey questionnaires provided by the client.

The data was prepared and made available to the client.
