Opis projektu
After 40 years, the suburban railway system has reached its capacity limits.
The Bavarian regional government therefore decided on a development concept for the rail hub of Munich at the beginning of 2010. The centrepiece is the 2nd main route.
With more frequent services and express suburban railways, the increasing demand for rail passenger transport can also be met in the future.
To improve performance, the suburban railways lines will be divided into two main routes.
The stations with the highest volume of traffic – Central train station, Marienhof and East train station – can be reached with all trains.
In Laim and at the Leuchtenbergring, you can change between the suburban railways on the same fully accessible platform.
In the long term the 2nd main route also allows direct connections from the region, beyond the current suburban railway system into the centre of Munich.
With the 2nd main route, an important requirement will also be fulfilled for a quicker connection to the airport.
