Opis projektu
The platform halls in the Dresden Hauptbahnhof were renovated on the basis of a design by the British architect Sir Norman Foster.
The membrane roof, a single layer PTFE glass fibre fabric, was mounted on the listed mullion structures of the girder to be renovated, and the secondary construction to be erected on top of it.
A total area of 22,000 m² is spanned. The works took place in several construction stages, while maintaining train transport under the cover of moveable work platforms, which extensively covered the railway area.
Also included in the procedure were solid construction works, works in technical building services (ventilation, smoke extraction, roof drainage, lighting, lightning protection), complete renovation of rain water collection system and rail technology systems (LST, OLA, 50 Hz, track superstructure, track laying, cable laying).
The procedure was affected by the replacement of the high track support structures, in the north hall of the main train station.
