New build of the federal motorway A 281, building phase 3.1

The new build of the federal motorway A 281 is the connection between the federal motorway A 1 and the federal motorway A 27, in the area to the south west of the Weser, in the Bremen district.

The building phase 3.1 encompassed the building of the A 281 between the central freight centre junction on the Stromer highway and the building phase 2 to the east of the Warturmer Heerstraße.

The connection points with the municipal transport network emerged in the course of the Stromer highway/Merkurstraße (central freight centre) and in the area of Senator-Apelt-Straße/Niedervielander Straße (freight centre East).

The route of the A 281 BP 3.1 primarily runs along the edge of industrial areas, small garden areas with green spaces, and agricultural areas, area by area with compensation functions for interventions by other building projects.

The measure includes the construction of four road bridges and two pedestrian and cycle bridges.

As the new route crosses and overlaps several areas of surface water, the whole drainage system/water regime in the area had to be realigned.

Due to the difficult building site conditions, extensive soil management was necessary, where a total of around 1,000,000 m³ of load bearing soil was built into the route.
