Opis projektu

The section of AlpTransit is responsible for all building procedures in connection with realisation of the NEAT. It is subject to supervision by the project participants, and subject to reporting to the Federal government.

With two new Alpine tunnels, the national and international demand for transport will be covered in passenger and goods transport.

The key components are a 57 km long base tunnel from Erstfeld to Bodio, at Gotthard, and a 36 km long tunnel at Lötschberg.

The Gotthard line will be supplemented by the approx. 20 km long Zimmerberg base tunnel near Zurich, and the approx. 15 km long Ceneri base tunnel between Bellinzona and Lugano.

Ticino and Valais will be integrated into the network of Bahn 2000 in future.

Central Switzerland will benefit from 10 min. faster connections to Zurich.

Climbs and curve radius's are laid out in such a way, that goods trains with speeds up to 160 km/h and passenger trains at 250 km/h can drive through the tunnel.
